Ohio Medical Marijuana Testing Laboratory Surety Bond
What is an Ohio Medical Marijuana Testing Laboratory Bond?
An Ohio Medical Marijuana Testing Laboratory Bond is a $75,000 surety bond that is required to be posted by medical marijuana testing laboratories before they are issued a license, called a Testing Laboratory Certificate of Operations, to conduct business in the State of Ohio.
A surety bond will need to be established for each testing lab.
A copy of the bond must be submitted to the department before a certificate of operation is issued. The Testing Lab shall have six months from the date they are notified of selection for a provisional license to obtain a certificate of operation. Therefore, the bond must be obtained within that time period.
A Testing Laboratory is an independent laboratory located in Ohio that is authorized to have custody and use of controlled substances for scientific and medical purposes and for purposes of instruction, research, or analysis. Testing Labs can obtain medical marijuana from one or more licensed cultivators, processors, and/or retail dispensaries.
The State currently has no intention to limit the number of testing laboratory licenses that may be awarded.
